Programme outcomes

Graduates of the Magister programme in Statistics have an in depth knowledge of the theoretical principles and concepts of statistics and problem solving competence in applied fields such as Econometrics, Quantitative Finance, Decision Support and Biometrics at their disposal.

Fields of activity

Due to the relatively small number of graduates on the one hand and the diversity of possible application of these skills on the other, the chances of finding suitable employment are very good. 
Typical employers are government departments and public authorities, market research and opinion poll institutes, finance companies e.g. banks, insurance and pharmaceutical companies as well as universities and research facilities. In addition there is also the possibility of self-employment as a consultant or assessor (adviser).

Personal requirements

Sound prior knowledge in statistics and mathematics are a prerequisite for this study programme, as well as familiarity with statistical software and programming experience. Graduates are expected to be able and willing to cooperate with experts of varying disciplines.
