Die Covid-Pandemie forderte von vielen kleinen- und mittleren Unternehmen (KMU) einen hohen finanziellen Tribut. Als Gegenmaßnahme investierte die Stadt Wien mit dem Investitionsprogramm "Stolz auf Wien 2" direkt in Wiener Unternehmen.

Die österreichische Tageszeitung Der Standard hat die Komplexität, Erfolge und Risiken des Programms näher beleuchtet. Der Ökonom Paul Pichler vom Institut für Volkswirtschaftslehre sieht, dass die Stadt schnell das Problem erkannt hat, ungeachtet der Schwierigkeiten als staatliche Institution solchen Firmen Geld zuzuschießen. Das Instrument lässt sich trotzdem nicht groß skalieren.

Der Standard: Paul Pichler on Vienna’s Pandemic Investments in SMEs

The Covid pandemic took a heavy financial toll on many small and medium-sized enterprises (SME). As countermeasure, the City of Vienna invested directly in Viennese companies through its "Stolz auf Wien 2" (Pride in Vienna 2) investment program.

The Austrian daily Der Standard took a closer look at the complexities, successes and risks of the investment program. The economist Paul Pichler from the Department of Economist says the city recognized the problem relatively quickly, but that as a state institution it is not easy to inject money into companies. The program is limited as well in terms of scale, he adds.
