If you miss the submission deadline, you have no guarantee of the desired exam date. Please do not submit registration for defence if you haven't completed your courses or still missing grades. Incomplete registration documents will not be further process and not actively kept on file. The exam date and the comittee has to be approved by the director of the study programme (SPL) - only then will you be notified. The confirmation and the protocol will be sent to you and the comittee via email. Further information regarding the various master programmes can be found below.
  • Please make sure to reserve the exam date via the secretariat of your thesis supervisor - bevor you submit your documents. The respective secretariat is also responsible for the further coordination of the actual exam.
  • You need a chairperson who is part of the exam comittee. Usually one of your examiners suggests someone - if you are having trouble finding a chairperson, please contact the responsible director of the study programme (SPL). First and second examiner should already be set by then as well as the date.
  • Please coordinate together with your examiners (or through their secretary) which conference tool you are using and how exactly the exam will be carried out. Recommendations and tips can be found on the CTL website (see link below).

  • Students are allowed a person of trust to be present during the exam. Examiners may invite another person assisting in an observing role. Further persons apart from student and comittee are not recommended to ensure a stable connection and to avoid legal problems during the non-public discussion part of the exam comittee.
