Research direction

Research at the Faculty of Business, Economics and Statistics follows international standards (results are accordingly published in leading international journals) and stands out in particular for its analytic-quantitative focus.

While such a focus reflects usual international practice in the fields of statistics and decision support as well as in economics, it is uncharacteristic for business administration institutes  – at least in the German speaking area – and as such has contributed substantially to the image of the faculty. In particular, it has opened up interaction between the analytically-oriented research in business administration studies and research activities in the field of statistics and decision support systems. The same applies to the application of econometric methodologies and their optimisation in the areas of finance and economics as well as the use of operations research methods (e.g. combinatory optimisation in production and logistics research.

The outstanding research achievements of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Statistics are reflected in its high placing in recognised rankings.
